I should try this out on mine with my NVidia 9400M. In fact, does Parallels use the hardware graphics? VMware uses an emulated graphics adapter as far as I know.

Quartz Composer is a visual programming language for Mac OS X, and basically if you have the skills you can make anything you like, Video filters visualisations, screen savers, utilities or even games. If you run (not sure which one) the disk while under OS X then it should come up with a window with various install functions, you want the "install bundled software" one. Once here I think you are presented with "Developer Tools", "Xcode Tools" or something similar. Ok, all (modern) macs have fans that are firmware controlled, not software or OS, so if it does get hot the fans should do the job, I do know that if it gets itself to a temperature its not comfortable it should save your work (depending on the program) and turn itself on, and wont come on again until its cool enough.
